Crescent Village Reaches Milestone in Phase I Development

EUGENE, Oregon - Another milestone has been reached at Crescent Village, Eugene’s first mixed-use development.

Concrete has been poured, and curbs are in for the main public square and the intersection of Tennyson Avenue and Shadow View Drive in Crescent Village.

The area is being prepared to accommodate restaurants, common areas, and town center buildings that will house commercial enterprises, cafés, small shops, and a mix of office and residential space.

Mark Miksis, Crescent Village Project Manager, says that there has been a learning curve for everyone involved in the construction from the city to the utility companies to the contractors.

"A mixed use development of this type requires a lot more coordination than the average subdivision," says Miksis. "Teamwork is absolutely key to making this a successful construction project."

During this initial phase of construction, the effort goes into planning and installing the infrastructure of cable, sewer, phone, electrical and gas lines. In the end, most of this hard work is hidden underground.

The goal for completion of Phase I, including streetlights, sidewalks and trees, is the middle of April 2005.
